So I can't think of anything else right now for what I miss from Germany, so here the List of things I think I will miss from here...

• the easyness of inventing yourself
• the great integration of otherabled
• the space
• the grassroots community actions
• I'll miss the Island like hell ( I really think this is one of the most beautiful spots in the world)
• the abundance of space
• that shops are open every day - even though I actually like the Sunday closed thing unless I am traveling and in need of food or such...

We will see what else comes to mind. And I will simply add to these to lists when ever I can think of something

 I'm trying to think about all the things that I missed about Germany and what I will miss from here, and we will see if I totally exaggerated or if these things are really true.
so here what I missed:

• Bread
• Paper sizes and 
• Photo sizes that match envelope sizes
• the culture of eating out ( and not having to leave after a hurried dinner)
• hanging out with friends and not see everyone go after the obligatory 2 hours
• real parties (see above - but maybe that changed with having kids)
• sense of "fashion"
• health care
• the beautiful medieval towns and viilages
• street cafes
• Bakeries on every corner 

Sorry - It's too late for me, I can't think anymore (I had to get up and bake bread for the market at 5:30), so I will continue the list tomorrow....

7 Days

It's been 7 days now that Andres has left for Germany. He has arrived (I got the message on the answering machine) but we have not talked yet - right now he is somewhere in the Alps hiking towards Italy. We are still in our daily routine rut of scamper camp (this was the last week), Market days, baking bread, working in the Library etc, The going-to-bed routine has changed a bit now that I am doing it for both kids, but we are getting used to it. The grandparents definitely are a big help with Luca and Mia is slowly adjusting to them. She is getting annoyingly mobile, while still picking up all the little crap she finds on the floors... yes I have found stickers, gravel and other stuff in her diaper and I DO watch her constantly....Our days are coming to an end here and so is the summer- everything is coming to a close. It is weird to think I will be leaving as in leaving for good and I am still not sure if I like it. But then again new adventures are awaiting us ( and I just lost an other round of boggle against the queens of this game!!)I'm going to bed since I will be the bread baker tomorrow morning (Aaaaandresss????? come back and bake!!!!)

packing, shipping, flying home

Wednesday we packed up all the boxes (NOT 20 but 18 :) Ha!!!) anyway- and put them on the boat. drove over (one last time for Andres) and met Emi. then loaded up the cars and drove to Bangor.
Of course we were early, and the car was late, but by 4pm Andres was loaded up for the third time and drove off to Boston...Thursday the boxes were dropped off and Andres was off on the plane. He's back in Germany getting ready to hike the Alps......
We (the kids, me and my parents) are still here living Island life. Tomorrow I  will be in Southwest Harbor for the annual craft fair trying to sell my stuff _ I hope I will not have to take too much back over to Germany....Mia is trying to crawl and eat everything she can find on the floor and Luca is enjoying the attention of his Grandparents.  So that's that for now...

the second post

So here we go-
now? we are packing up, its Andres' last 10 days. So he is not working and is trying to enjoy the last bit of time in this most beautiful enclave...Me - I am working in the Island Library and holding a Market once and twice a week, and of course the kids...
Right now we still don't know what we will do when we get to Germany, so we have decided first plan of action should be to get a vehicle (an other VW Bus? :)) We are looking for an eco village or some other place where we can try to live our dreams...

the adventure is over! it's almost been a year now -since July 7th 2010 we have lived up here in Maine on Cranberry Island  - and on Saturday we sold Emma our bus - when the new owner called this morning at 6:30 because he couldn't start her after a nights rest, we felt like we should be there and fix'er up again - but oh no she's not ours anymore - sob...
(the big events of the Year: our family has grown by one - Mia, we are now all citizens of the US as well as Germany) And yes it is final. 
And now it's final -We are starting a new adventure.
We are going back home!
So Saturday was the sad ending of a wonder full time with Emma and the beginning of something big and new.

last Post

Hi all,
I'm sorry I haven't left anything here for such a long time. That's because we aren't traveling right now, and will not for the next 6 months at least. We have settled in Maine, on Cranberry Island, but will move off here in two weeks to live on the Mainland (Seal Harbor), where we will also be having the Baby ( in about 6 weeks).
Andres is working on the Island doing carpentry, furniture and Paint jobs, and he will be going back and forth until at least end December. I am with Luca, sewing and binding Books...
We are still waiting for Paper work  to come through, then we will have to decide what to do.
Back to germany or not, and if not ( or yes) what to do then.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that we are all well, and that I will pick this blog up again if we start moving around the world again. Up to then I will be posting here every now and again. Please stop by there or send an email or snailmail, we'd love to hear from you all.
